Courtney Welch for Emeryville City Council
November 2, 2021 General Election

Courtney believes that the Bay Area has been underbuilding housing for the last 40 years, and that the housing shortage is a major cause of our homelessness and housing affordability crises. She says that we need to build housing at all affordability levels to fix this problem, and she is looking forward to using the state density bonus laws and SB 9 and SB 10 to make this happen. She also supports streamlining of housing projects.

Courtney also strongly supports building subsidized affordable housing with the funding streams that the city of Emeryville passed in the last few years. On tenant protections, she supports extending the pandemic eviction moratorium and working with nonprofits to give legal representation to tenants at risk of eviction.

In addition, Courtney has experience working in community land trusts and in Alameda County Continuum of Care (program to rehouse homeless individuals and provide supportive services). We think this experience will make her particularly effective at administering Emeryville’s affordable housing programs.

Mia Bonta for AD-18 California State Assembly
November 2, 2021 General Election

Mia Bonta has been a champion for housing the most vulnerable and is committed to ending our shared housing crisis. We believe she will be a strong ally in the assembly.

She was the only candidate in this race who supported SB9 and SB10 in their current form. She also campaigned to end exclusionary zoning in Alameda with Measure Z and believes we need to build more housing to solve our state’s housing crisis.
